Title: Novell NetIdentity Agent 'XTIERRPCPIPE' Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
Novell NetIdentity Agent is used with Novell eDirectory authentication to provide background authentication to web-based applications. It is available for Microsoft Windows.
The application is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability that arises because of a pointer dereference. Specifically, the issue affects the 'wxtagent.exe' process and occurs when the application handles RPC messages over the 'XTIERRPCPIPE' named pipe. Note that attackers must establish a valid IPC$ connection before carrying out this attack.
Attackers could exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Failed exploit attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.
Novell NetIdentity Agent 1.2.3 is vulnerable; other versions may be affected as well.
