Title: W3C Amaya HTML 'ParseCharsetAndContentType()' Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
W3C Amaya is a freely available web browser and editor that runs on multiple platforms.
Amaya is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate checks on user-supplied input. Specifically, this issue occurs when handling long strings provided as 'charset' data to the 'content' parameter of a 'meta http-equiv' HTML tag. This issue affects the 'ParseCharsetAndContentType()' function in the 'Amaya/amaya/XHTMLbuilder.c' source file.
Attackers may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.
Amaya 11.1 and 11.0 are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- W3C Amaya 11.0
- W3C Amaya 11.0.1
- W3C Amaya 11.1
