Description:
Apple Mac OS X is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability in AppleTalk because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. The vulnerability occurs when handling a 'ZIP-Notify' message.
Remote attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with kernel-level privileges. Successfully exploiting this issue will result in the complete compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
Mac OS X 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
