Title: Cerulean Studios Trillian Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Cerulean Studios Trillian is a chat program which incorporates various instant messenger programs into one interface. Trillian supports AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger and IRC.
A vulnerability exists in Trillian and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), which could cause the Trillian client to stop responding.
Attacks can be launched if an AIM instant message containing an unusual number of arbitrary characters (640 or more), is sent and received by a recipient using Trillian. A restart of the application may be necessary in order to regain normal functionality.
This issue may be the result of an unchecked buffer. If this is the case, there is a possibility that arbitrary code may be executed on the vulnerable target. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
Affected Products:
- Cerulean Studios Trillian 0.6351.0
