Title: Drupal Viewfield Module HTML Injection Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Viewfield is a PHP-based Drupal component that allows administrators to put views directly into nodes.

The application is prone to an HTML-injection vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input before using it in dynamically generated content. Specifically, this issue affects input to the 'description' parameter of the 'index.php' script when creating new content that includes the link field or while configuring the link field.

Attacker-supplied HTML and script code would run in the context of the affected browser, potentially allowing the attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials or to control how the site is rendered to the user. Other attacks are also possible.

Note that to exploit this issue, attackers must have valid authentication credentials with 'administer content types' privileges.

Drupal Viewfield 5.x-1.5 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Drupal Viewfield 5.x-1.5
