Title: Cisco Application Network Manager and Application Control Engine Multiple Vulnerabilities
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
Cisco Application Network Manager (ANM) provides management for multidevice data centers; Application Control Engine (ACE) Device Manager is a management application for networking gear for data centers.
These applications are prone to the following security vulnerabilities:
1. Multiple directory-traversal vulnerabilities are present in both applications. Attackers require authentication to exploit these issues. These issues are tracked by Cisco Bug IDs CSCsv66063 and CSCsv70130 and by CVE-2009-0615.
2. ANM is prone to an unauthorized-access vulnerability because it fails to force credential changes during installation. This issue is tracked by Cisco Bug ID CSCsu52724 and by CVE-2009-0616.
3. ANM is prone to an unauthorized-access vulnerability because it uses a default MySQL root user password during installation. Unauthorized access to the MySQL database can facilitate a complete compromise of the underlying computer. This issue is tracked by Cisco Bug ID CSCsu52632 and by CVE-2009-0617.
4. ANM is prone to a privilege-escalation vulnerability affecting the application's Java Agent. Remote attackers can exploit this issue by sending specially crafted TCP packets to the application. This issue is tracked by Cisco Bug ID CSCsu73001 and by CVE-2009-0618.
A successful exploit may allow attackers to obtain sensitive information, view or modify files, cause denial-of-service conditions, or gain unauthorized access to the affected application. This may aid in the complete compromise of the underlying computer.
Affected Products:
- Cisco Application Control Software A2(1.2)
- Cisco Application Networking Manager (ANM) 1.2
