Title: GE Fanuc iFIX Insecure Authentication Multiple Unauthorized Access Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

GE Fanuc iFIX is an HMI/SCADA client/server application.

Since it handles authentication in an insecure manner, iFIX is prone to multiple vulnerabilities:

1. Clients store usernames and passwords in a local file and are obfuscated with a weak encryption algorithm. Attackers may obtain this file via network sharing. Also, local attackers may access this file directly.

2. Local attackers may alter authentication mechanisms via a specially crafted binary module.

Attackers can exploit these issues to obtain authentication credentials and unauthorized access to vulnerable applications.
