Title: SilverNews Multiple Input Validation Vulnerabilites

Severity: HIGH

Description:

SilverNews is a PHP-based content manager.

The application is prone to these input-validation vulnerabilities:

1. A local file-include vulnerability affects the 'section' parameter of the 'index.php' script.

2. An SQL-injection vulnerability affects the 'username' textbox when logging in as an administrator.

3. A remote code-execution vulnerability affects the 'show_cat_prefix' POST parameter of the 'admin.php' script.

An attacker can exploits these issues to execute arbitrary code within the context of the webserver, compromise the application, access or modify data, exploit latent vulnerabilities in the underlying database, or obtain sensitive information. Other attacks are also possible.

SilverNews 2.04 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Silver-Scripts SilverNews 2.04
