Title: VMware ESX VMDK Delta Disk Host Denial Of Service Vulnerability

Severity: LOW

Description:

VMware ESX is a set of server emulation applications available for several platforms.

VMware ESX is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability because it fails to handle exceptional conditions. The problem occurs when a corrupted VMDK delta disk is loaded in a guest operating system.

An administrative user in a guest system can exploit this issue to cause the host system to crash, effectively denying service to legitimate users.

Affected Products:

  • VMWare ESX Server 3.5
