Title: EMC AutoStart 'ftbackbone.exe' Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

EMC AutoStart allows automatic application recovery within a short period of time.

The application is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability in the 'ftbackbone.exe' service listening on TCP port 8042 by default. Specifically, the vulnerability occurs when handling packets containing a malformed DWORD value.

Attackers can leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Successfully exploiting this issue will result in the complete compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
