Title: 53KF Web IM 'msg' Parameter Cross Site Scripting Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

53KF Web IM is an instant messenger for use within a browser.

The application is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input. This issue affects the 'msg' parameter in the 'sendmsg()' function. An attacker may send arbitrary HTML or script code, which will be displayed to other participants in the chat session.

An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may allow the attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials and to launch other attacks.

This issue affects the following:

53KF Web IM Home Edition
53KF Web IM Enterprise
53KF Web IM Professional

Affected Products:

  • 53KF 53KF Web IM Enterprise Edition
  • 53KF 53KF Web IM Home Edition
  • 53KF 53KF Web IM Professional Edition
