Description:
The 'gen_msn' plugin for Winamp is is used to display currently playing songs in the personal status message of Windows Live Messenger.
The application is prone to a remote heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate checks on user-supplied input. Specifically, this issue occurs when processing a specially crafted '.pls' playlist file.
Successfully exploiting this issue may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.
This issue affects gen_msn 0.31; other versions may also be affected.
