Title: Elecard MPEG Player '.m3u' File Remote Stack Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Elecard MPEG Player is a multimedia player application available for Microsoft Windows.

Elecard MPEG Player is prone to a remote stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate checks on user-supplied input. Specifically, this issue occurs when opening a large '.m3u' or '.xpl' playlist file.

Successfully exploiting this issue may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.

Elecard MPEG Player 5.5 and Elecard AVC HD Player are vulnerable; other versions and applications may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Elecard AVC HD Player
  • Elecard MPEG Player 5.5
