Title: BulletProof FTP Client Bookmark File Heap Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

BulletProof FTP Client is an FTP client available for Microsoft Windows.

The application is prone to a heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. This issue occurs when handling malicious bookmark files. Specifically, a heap overflow occurs when handling excessively large user-authentication credentials while connecting to an FTP server.

An attacker may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the vulnerable application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in a denial-of-service condition.

BulletProof FTP Client 2.63 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • BulletProof Software BulletProof FTP Client 2.63
