Title: HP Process Resource Manager Environment Variable Privilege Elevation Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
HP-UX is the Unix Operating System variant distributed by Hewlett Packard.
A problem in the Process Resource Manager (PRM) add-on software makes it possible for local users to gain elevated privileges, and could lead to administrative access.
A problem in /opt/prm/bin has been discovered that, through the changing of environment variables and libraries, makes it possible for a local user to gain elevated privileges.
Process Resource Manager is an optional software package not distributed with HP-UX by default. It is also noteworthy that HP's Workload Manager (WLM) uses the Process Resource Manager software, making this product vulnerable as well.
Affected Products:
- HP Process Resource Manager 0.0.0C.01.07
- HP Process Resource Manager 0.0.0C.01.08.02
