Open Unix is a commercial grade UNIX implementation distributed and maintained by Caldera International.
A problem has been discovered in the operating system that may allow local users to gain elevated privileges. The problem is in the lpsystem program.
lpsystem is installed with setuid privileges on most systems to allow access to device files necessary to print documents. A buffer overflow in this program could make it possible for a local user to overwrite variables on the stack, including the return address, and execute arbitrary code. This could lead to a local user gaining elevated privileges.
