Title: 'imlib2' Library 'load()' Function Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

The 'imlib2' library is used to view and render various types of images. It is available for UNIX, Linux, and other UNIX-like operating systems.

The library is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the software fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data. Specifically, this issue is caused by an error in the 'load()' function.

Attackers may exploit this issue by enticing an unsuspecting user to process malicious XPM files with an application that uses the vulnerable library.

Successful exploits will allow attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of applications using the vulnerable library. Failed exploit attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.

This issue affects imlib2 1.4.2; other versions may also be affected.
