Title: Collabtive Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Collabtive is open-source collaboration software implemented in PHP.

The application is prone to multiple remote vulnerabilities:

1. An HTML-injection vulnerability affects the 'Name' property of projects when viewed with the 'manageprojects.php' script with the 'action' parameter set to 'editform'. To exploit this issue, an attacker must have administrator access to the vulnerable application.

2. An arbitrary-file-upload vulnerability resides in the 'managefile.php' script. Specifically, if the MIME content type is set to 'text/plain' when a file is uploaded, it will be saved with its original file extension.

3. An authentication-bypass vulnerability affects the 'admin.php' script. When the vulnerable script is called with the parameter 'action' set to 'users' and the parameter 'mode' set to 'added', the error page displayed includes a form that allows attackers to add users with administrative privileges.

4. An information-disclosure vulnerability caused by insufficiently random filenames for message attachments and uploaded files allows an attacker to learn or guess the upload time of an affected file and thus learn the filename it was saved as. The attacker may then access the file through a crafted HTTP request.

A successful exploit of these issues may allow the attacker to obtain sensitive information, execute arbitrary script code within the context of the browser, steal cookie-based authentication credentials, gain unauthorized access to the affected application, compromise the application, and execute arbitrary script code within the context of the webserver process. Other attacks are also possible.

Collabtive 0.4.8 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Collabtive Collabtive 0.4.8
