Title: WinWrapper Admin Server Arbitrary File Reading Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
WinWrapper is a commercial firewall implementation for the Microsoft Windows platform. It is distributed and maintained by ASCII NT.
A problem with the package could allows arbitrary users to gain access to sensitive information. This could lead information gathering, and further attacks against a vulnerable host.
The problem is in the handling of input from remote users through the web management interface. By supplying a classic dot-dot-slash (../) string to the management interface, which runs by default on port 4096, it is possible to traverse local directories on the system, and view the contents of files accessible through the permissions of the administrative interface process.
This makes it possible for a remote user to gain access to sensitive information, and could lead to further compromise of local system resources.
Affected Products:
- ASCII NT WinWrapper Professional 2.0.0
