Title: Article Publisher PRO Cookie Authentication Bypass Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Article Publisher PRO is a PHP-based content manager.
The application is prone to an authentication-bypass vulnerability because it fails to adequately verify user-supplied input used for cookie-based authentication.
Attackers can gain administrative access by setting the 'xadmin' cookie parameter to the ID of a valid administrative user followed by a password 'md5' (for example: 'user=id,md5') and its path to '/'.
Attackers can gain access as any user by setting the 'user' 'cookie parameter to the ID of a valid user followed by a password 'md5' (for example: 'user=id,md5') and its path to '/'.
This will allow the attacker to bypass authentication. Successful exploits may aid in further attacks.
Article Publisher PRO 1.5 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
