Title: Adobe PageMaker 'AldFs32.dll' Key Strings Stack-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Adobe PageMaker is an application for desktop publishing.

The application is prone to a stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer. This issue can occur when a specially crafted .PMD file is opened with a vulnerable application. This issue is related to the 'Key Strings' buffer used by the 'AldFs32.dll' file.

Very few technical details are currently available. We will update this BID as more information emerges.

An attacker could exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.

Adobe PageMaker 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 are vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Adobe Pagemaker 7.0.1
  • Adobe Pagemaker 7.0.2
