Title: Trend Micro OfficeScan CGI Parsing Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Trend Micro OfficeScan is an integrated enterprise-level security product that protects against viruses, spyware, worms, and blended threats.
OfficeScan is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data when parsing CGI requests before copying the data into an insufficiently sized memory buffer. Attackers can trigger the issue to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted HTTP request containing malicious form data.
Successful exploits of this issue can allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected application. This may facilitate a complete compromise of vulnerable computers. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.
This issue affects OfficeScan 7.3 with Patch 4 build 1362 and OfficeScan 8.0 SP1 Patch 1; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- Trend Micro OfficeScan 7.3
- Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0
- Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0 Service Pack 1 Patch 1
