Title: IBM WebSphere Application Server Denial of Service And Security Bypass Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is an application infrastructure used for service-oriented architecture.

The application is prone to the following issues:

1. A denial-of-service issue occurs when the application processes a crafted HTTP request with an overly large string in the 'Host' header.

2. A security-bypass issue occurs in the application when processing the Certificate Revocation List (CRL). Specifically, the application fails to reject X509 certificates in SOAP messages that are revoked in the CRL.

Successful exploits may allow attackers to bypass certain security restrictions or to hang the server, causing a denial-of-service condition.

These issues affect versions prior to WAS 6.0.2.31.

Affected Products:

  • IBM Websphere Application Server 6.0.2.1
  • IBM Websphere Application Server 6.0.2.11
  • IBM Websphere Application Server 6.0.2.13
