Title: WEBsweeper Unicode Script Filtering Bypass Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

WEBsweeper is an application which sanitizes malicious web content. Suspicious filetypes, hidden mailtos, cookies, scripts, etc. can all be filtered by WEBsweeper users.

WEBsweeper does not adequately filter scripting code from web pages. Variations of <SCRIPT> which use extended Unicode notation will not be filtered from the HTML that WEBsweeper generates when a user views a webpage.

The following example will bypass the script filtering functionality provided by WEBsweeper:

À¼Á“cript language=vbÁ“criptÀ¾alert "Hello"À¼/Á“criptÀ¾

This issue will allow malicious scripting code to be executed on the web user.

Affected Products:

  • Baltimore Technologies WEBsweeper 4.0.0
  • Baltimore Technologies WEBsweeper 4.0.0 2
