Title: ZyXEL Prestige Router Remote Node Filtering Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

The ZyXEL Prestige router documentation claims that up to four remote node filtering rules can be specified.

When one remote node filtering rule is applied, the filter works as expected. When more than one remote node filtering rule is applied, only the first filtering rule is effective.

In such an instance, a user expecting more than one service port to be filtered will be vulnerable to possible attacks on the second, third, and forth ports specified.

It has been reported that this issue still exists in firmware version V2.50(AL.2) of Prestige 642 routers. This has not been confirmed by the vendor.

Affected Products:

  • ZyXEL Prestige 100 0.0.0
  • ZyXEL Prestige 202 0.0.0
  • ZyXEL Prestige 642R 0.0.0
  • ZyXEL Prestige 642R-I 0.0.0
