Title: ColdFusion Sample Application Command Execution Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
Allaire Macromedia ColdFusion is a web application server. It supports quick development, publication and management of web content.
ColdFusion includes several sample applications which are not installed by default. These sample applications reside in the 'CFDOCS' directory.
By design, sample applications do not permit access from any other source than the ColdFusion server itself. A flaw exists in two sample applications which could enable a remote user to bypass this feature.
A user would have to spoof the source of a web request, potentially posing as a privileged user. Successfully doing so, could enable a user to take any desired action including creating files, viewing files, or executing arbitrary commands on the target host.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to a complete compromise of the host.
