Title: Multiple Vendor File Sharing Application File Disclosure Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Music City Network's Morpheus and Fast Track's KaZaA are both peer to peer file sharing applications. The built in search engine enables user's to search for audio, video, images and document files from other Fast Track member's to download.
It is possible to specify a folder to share out with other Morpheus or KaZaA users, it is also possible to specify a folder where downloaded files will be saved to. A flaw exists in the Media sharing component that could enable a user to view the contents of the folder specifed for download files, if file sharing is enabled.
Typically the only folder remote users should be able to view the contents of, is the one specified to share out files. This vulnerability enables users to view the contents of both the download folder and the shared folder.
If successfully exploited, this could allow an attacker to obtain potentially sensitive or confidential information, which, if properly exploited, could be used to further undermine security on the host.
