Title: Trend Micro OfficeScan 'cgiRecvFile.exe' Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Trend Micro OfficeScan is an integrated enterprise-level security product that protects against viruses, spyware, worms, and blended threats.
Trend Micro OfficeScan is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized memory buffer.
This issue affects the 'cgiRecvFile.exe' file. Attackers can trigger the issue to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by sending a specially crated HTTP request with an overly long 'ComputerName' parameter.
Note that successful exploits will also require the attacker to manipulate the 'TempFileName', 'NewFileSize', and 'Verify' parameters.
Successful exploits of this issue can allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected application. This may facilitate a complete compromise of vulnerable computers. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.
This issue affects the following:
OfficeScan 7.3 with Patch 4 build 1362
OfficeScan 7.0
OfficeScan 8.0
Client Server Messaging Security versions 3.6, 3.5, 3.0, and 2.0
Affected Products:
- Trend Micro Client Server Messaging Security 3.6
- Trend Micro OfficeScan 7.0
- Trend Micro OfficeScan 7.3
- Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0
