Title: Google Chrome 'SaveAs' Function 'Title' Tag Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Google Chrome is a web browser.

The application is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. An attacker must trick an unsuspecting victim into using the browser's 'SaveAs' function to save a malicious web page containing overly long strings in the 'title' tag.

An attacker may also use the 'Content-Disposition: attachment' HTTP header with a malicious 'filename' tag to exploit this issue.

Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user running the application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in a denial-of-service condition.

Google Chrome 0.2.149.27 is vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Google Chrome 0.2.149.27
