Title: Linux Kernel 'sctp_setsockopt_auth_key()' Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

The Linux kernel is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability because it fails to properly handle user-supplied input.

This issue occurs because of inadequate checks in the 'sctp_setsockopt_auth_key()' function of the 'net/sctp/socket.c' source file. The SCTP_AUTH_KEY option contains a length that isn't properly verified as a size argument before being used to allocate memory. Attacker-supplied data can trigger an integer-overflow error, resulting in a kernel panic, denying service to legitimate users.

Versions since Linux kernel 2.6.24-rc1 are vulnerable.
