Title: IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director Directory Traversal Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director is a secure policy management application which is designed to manage web objects, applications, authentication and various other components of a web site.
A vulnerability exists in IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director which could enable a remote user to gain access to arbitrary directories and files residing on the host.
A specially crafted URL using hex encoded 'double dot' sequences to port 80 will reveal arbitrary directories on the host filesystem. For example:
http://target/%2e%2e/%2e%2e/%2e%2e/
In addition to traversing arbitrary directories, this flaw could enable the attacker to disclose files readable by the webserver user, potentially compromising the privacy of user data and/or obtaining information which could be used to further undermine the host's security.
Successfully exploited, this vulnerability could lead to the disclosure of sensitive information and possibly assist in further attacks against the host.
Affected Products:
- IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director 3.0.1
- IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director 3.6.0
- IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director 3.7.0
- IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director 3.7.1
