Title: Red Hat Network Satellite Server 'manzier.pxt' User Information Disclosure Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Red Hat Network Satellite Server is a server application that allows users to perform Red Hat Network updates on computers that are not directly attached to the internet. The Satellite Server is responsible for acting like a proxy, downloading updates, and serving them to client computers.

The application is prone to an information-disclosure vulnerability because it ships with a hard-coded authentication key. The key is present in the XML-RPC script 'manzier.pxt' and allows remote attackers who can connect to the server's XML-RPC service to obtain sensitive information about Satellite Server users, including login names, associated email addresses, internal user IDs, and partial entitlement data. Information harvested may aid in further attacks.

Affected Products:

  • RedHat Network Satellite (for RHEL 4) 5.1
