Title: Microsoft Office Malformed BMP Filter Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Microsoft Office is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability.

The vulnerability occurs in the 'BMPIMP32.FLT' filter module when the Office BMP filter parses a BMP file with malformed headers. By specifying a very large number of colors in the header, an attacker can corrupt heap memory in a predictable way. The attacker can exploit this issue by enticing a victim to open the malicious file with the vulnerable application.

Successfully exploiting this issue would allow the attacker to corrupt heap memory and execute arbitrary code in the context of the currently logged-in user.
