Title: IBM SecureWay Directory Denial of Service Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is designed to be a lightweight access protocol for directory services supporting X.500 models. It offers a means of searching, fetching and manipulating directory content.
The SecureWay implementation of LDAP from IBM reportedly contains remotely exploitable vulnerabilities. By sending malformed LDAP requests to service, it is possible to crash the service. It may be possible to execute arbitrary code on the underlying host if this behaviour is due to buffer overflows.
Exploitation of this vulnerability can result in a prolonged denial of LDAP service.
Note: It has been reported that only Win2K and Solaris versions of SecureWay Directory are vulnerable.
Affected Products:
- IBM SecureWay Directory 3.0.0 Solaris
- IBM SecureWay Directory 3.0.0 Win2K
- IBM SecureWay Directory 3.1.0 Solaris
- IBM SecureWay Directory 3.1.0 Win2K
- IBM SecureWay Directory 3.2.0 Solaris
- IBM SecureWay Directory 3.2.0 Win2K
