Title: SWAT 4 Multiple Denial Of Service Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

SWAT 4 is a first-person shooter game.

Since it fails to properly handle certain input, SWAT 4 is prone to multiple remote denial-of-service vulnerabilities:

1. The first issue can be triggered by sending specially crafted 'VERIFYCONTENT' or 'GAMECONFIG' commands to the server before joining. This will cause a NULL pointer to be passed to the 'FString' function, which will result in a crash.

2. The second issue can be triggered by sending the 'GAMESPYRESPONSE' command followed by an 'RS' string that exceeds 71 bytes.

An attacker may exploit these issues to crash the affected application, denying service to legitimate users.

SWAT 4 1.1 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Sierra Entertainment SWAT 4 1.1
