Title: Microsoft Internet Explorer New ActiveX Object String Concatenation Memory Corruption Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Microsoft Internet Explorer is a browser for the Windows operating system.

The application is prone to a remote memory-corruption vulnerability that occurs when the application creates a new ActiveX object concatenated with a string of characters.

Remote attackers can exploit this issue to crash the affected application, denying service to legitimate users. Given the nature of this issue, attackers may also be able to run arbitrary code, but this has not been confirmed.

NOTE: Exploits of this issue will crash Internet Explorer, but the root of the problem may be an issue affecting Microsoft Outlook Express.
