Title: Youngzsoft CMailServer Multiple Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
CMailServer is a web-based mail server for Windows.
The application is prone to multiple buffer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data. Specifically, the 'CMailCom.POP3' class with CLSID '6971D9B8-B53E-4C25-A414-76199768A592' is vulnerable to a buffer-overflow issue. An attacker can exploit the issue by providing a very large string to the 'indexOfMail' parameter of the 'mvmail.asp' script.
Reportedly, the following methods are also affected by buffer-overflow vulnerabilities:
- The 'CreateUserPath', 'Logout', 'DeleteMailByUID', 'MoveToInbox', 'MoveToFolder', 'DeleteMailEx', 'GetMailDataEx', 'SetReplySign', 'SetForwardSign', and 'SetReadSign' methods of the 'CMailCom.POP3' class.
- The 'AddAttach', 'SetSubject', 'SetBcc', 'SetBody', 'SetCc', 'SetFrom', 'SetTo', and 'SetFromUID' methods of the 'CMailCOM.SMTP' class identified by CLSID 0609792F-AB56-4CB6-8909-19CDF72CB2A0.
Note that some of the above methods may be exploited only locally.
Successfully exploiting these issues allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. This facilitates a remote compromise of affected computers.
CMailServer 5.4.6 is affected; other versions may also be vulnerable.

- Youngzsoft CMailServer 5.4.6
