Title: AceFTP 'LIST' Command Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

AceFTP is a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) application for multiple operating systems.

The application is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input. This issue occurs in the FTP client. Specifically, the application fails to sanitize directory-traversal strings included in the 'LIST' command.

Exploiting this issue allows an attacker to write arbitrary files to locations outside of the application's current directory. This could help the attacker launch further attacks.

AceFTP Freeware 3.80.3 and AceFTP Freeware 3.80.3 are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Visicom Media AceFTP Freeware 3.80.3
  • Visicom Media AceFTP Pro 3.80.3
