Title: SunAge Multiple Denial of Service Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

SunAge is a realtime-strategy (RTS) game available for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

The game is prone to multiple denial-of-service vulnerabilities, including:

- An integer-overflow vulnerability
- An infinite-loop vulnerability
- A runtime error leading to a crash

These issues all occur when the game server receives malformed network datagrams on UDP port 27960.

Successfully exploiting these issues allows remote attackers to crash affected game servers, denying service to legitimate users.

SunAge 1.08.1 is vulnerable; previous versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Vertex4 SunAge 1.08.1
