Title: Booby 'renderer' Parameter Multiple Local and Remote File Include Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Booby is a web-based application for managing personal information; it supports bookmarks, calendars, contacts, etc.

The application is prone to multiple local and remote file-include vulnerabilities because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input to the 'renderer' parameter of the following scripts:

'/templates/barrel/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/barry/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/mylook/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/oerdec/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/penguin/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/sidebar/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/slashdot/template.tpl.php'
'/templates/text-only/template.tpl.php'

An attacker can exploit these issues to obtain sensitive information or execute malicious PHP code in the context of the webserver process. This may allow the attacker to compromise the application and the underlying system; other attacks are also possible.

The issue affects Booby 1.0.1; other versions may also be vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Booby Booby 1.0.1
