Title: 'imlib2' Library Multiple Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

The 'imlib2' library is used to view and render various types of images. It is available for UNIX, Linux, and other UNIX-like operating systems.

Since it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data, the library is prone to multiple vulnerabilities:

- A stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability occurs in the 'load()' function in the 'src/modules/loaders/loader_pnm.c' file when processing specially crafted PNM files.

- A stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability presents itself in the 'load()' function in the 'src/modules/loader_xpm.c' file when processing specially crafted XPM files.

Attackers may exploit these issues by enticing an unsuspecting user to process malicious PNM or XPM files with an application that uses the vulnerable library.

Successful exploits will allow attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of applications using the vulnerable library. Failed exploit attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.

The issues affect imlib2 1.4.0; other versions may also be affected.
