Title: PhotoStockPlus Uploader Tool ActiveX Control Multiple Stack Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

PhotoStockPlus is a marketplace for digital photos; the service provides an image uploader.

An ActiveX control in the image uploader is prone to multiple stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data.

PhotoStockPlus provides an image uploader ActiveX control provided by the file 'PSPUploader.ocx' and identified by CLSID: E48BB416-C578-4A62-84C9-5E3389ABE5FC. The control is prone to stack-based buffer overflows in multiple initialization parameters, which can allow a remote attacker to overwrite the process Structured Exception Handler (SEH).

Successfully exploiting these issues allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application using the ActiveX control (typically Internet Explorer). Failed exploit attempts likely result in denial-of-service conditions.

These issues occur in 'PSPUploader.ocx' which is shipped with PhotoStockPlus Uploader Tool version 1.0.

Affected Products:

  • PhotoStockPlus.com PSPUploader.ocx
