Title: Project Alumni SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Project Alumni is a web-based application to track and display school alumni.
Since it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input, the application is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability and an SQL-injection vulnerability:
- An SQL-injection vulnerability affects the 'id' parameter of the 'info.php' script.
- A cross-site scripting vulnerability affects the 'pages/news.page.inc' source file. Attackers can exploit this via the 'year' parameter in the 'index.php' script, when the 'act' action is set to 'news'.
Exploiting these issues could allow an attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials, compromise the application, access or modify data, or exploit latent vulnerabilities in the underlying database.
These issues affect Project Alumni 1.0.9; other versions may also be vulnerable.
Affected Products:
- Project Alumni Project Alumni 1.0.8
- Project Alumni Project Alumni 1.0.9
