Kantaris is a freely available media player for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Kantaris is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. The issue occurs when the application handles SSA subtitle files that contain overly long subtitle 'Dialogue' data.
Attackers may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.
Kantaris 0.3.4 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
