Title: DivX Player .SRT 'subtitle' Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

DivX Player is a media player specifically designed to handle DivX media files.

DivX Player is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input. The issue occurs when the application handles .SRT files that contain overly long subtitle data.

Attackers may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.

DivX Player 6.7.0 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • DivX Inc. DivX Player 6.7.0
