Title: Python 'stringobject.c' Multiple Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Python is an interpreted dynamic object-oriented programming language available for many operating systems.

Python is prone to multiple remote buffer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to sufficiently verify user-supplied data. Specifically, these issues affect the 'Objects/stringobject.c' source file of the core API. The 'size' parameter passed to the following functions isn't properly checked for signedness, which can result in memory misallocation:

PyString_FromStringAndSize()
PyBytes_FromStringAndSize()
PyUnicode_FromStringAndSize()

An attacker can exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running an application that uses the affected functions. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.

This issue affects Python 2.5.2; earlier versions may also be vulnerable.
