Title: TransSoft Broker CWD Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Broker is a Windows FTP server from TransSoft.

Versions of Broker are vulnerable to a denial of service.

A CD or CWD command, argumented by an invalid '. .' (dot-space-dot) sequence can, if repeatedly issued, create a buffer overflow causing the server to halt, requiring a restart.

While the exploitability of this overflow is unverified, the initial advisory notes that the Broker error log (C:\Program Files\TransSoft Ltd\Broker 5\Data\Errors.log)records an access violation "at offsets definitely taken from the input string. (like 20202020, 2020202E etc...)" (courtesy ByteRage <byterage@yahoo.com>)

  • TransSoft Broker FTP Server 3.0.0 Build 1
  • TransSoft Broker FTP Server 4.0.0
  • TransSoft Broker FTP Server 4.7.0 .5.0
  • TransSoft Broker FTP Server 5.0.0
