Title: Quick Tftp Server Pro 'mode' Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Quick Tftp Server Pro is a Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server for Microsoft Windows.

The application is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before storing it in a finite-sized memory buffer. The vulnerability occurs when the application passes overly long data to the 'mode' argument.

An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will cause a denial-of-service condition.

Quick Tftp Server Pro 2.1 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • TallSoft Quick Tftp Server Pro 2.1
