Title: Multiple D-Link Products Multiple Cross-Site Scripting and Denial of Service Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Multiple D-Link products are prone to multiple cross-site scripting vulnerabilities because they fail to properly handle user-supplied input:

1. A cross-site scripting vulnerability affects the D-Link DSL-G604T device because the 'cgi-bin/webcm' application fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input to the 'var:category' parameter. This issue is documented by CVE-2008-1253.

2. A cross-site scripting vulnerability affects the D-Link DI-604 device because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input to the 'rf' parameter in the 'prim.htm' script. This issue is documented by CVE-2008-1258.

3. Two denial-of-service vulnerabilities affect the D-Link DI-524 device:

- The device's web interface fails to handle overly long usernames when processing login requests. Attackers can exploit this issue to crash the device.

- The device's webserver fails to handle specially crafted HTTP headers. Attackers can crash the service by sending an overly long HTTP header without a value.

These DoS issues are documented by CVE-2008-1266.

An attacker may leverage these issues to cause denial-of-service conditions or to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may allow the attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials and to launch other attacks.

Affected Products:

  • D-Link DI-524
  • D-Link DI-604
  • D-Link DSL-G604T
