Title: Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router Multiple Remote Authentication Bypass Vulnerabilities

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router is prone to multiple authentication-bypass vulnerabilities because the device fails to properly check authorization before it allows users to perform certain administration actions.

Specifically, the application fails to restrict access to certain scripts that are used to modify the router's configuration files. Attackers can access the scripts without valid user credentials and can reconfigure the device.

The following scripts are affected:

Basic.tri
factdefa.tri
manage.tri
WBasic.tri
WFilter.tri
dmz.tri
ddns.tri
WanMac.tri
AdvRoute.tri
Advanced.tri
fw.tri
vpn.tri
filter.tri
PortRange.tri
ptrigger.tri
qos.tri
ctlog.tri
ping.tri
tracert.tri
rstatus.tri

Successful exploits will allow unauthorized attackers to gain access to administrative functionality and completely compromise vulnerable devices; other attacks are also possible.

The issues affect firmware v1.00.9; other versions may also be vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Linksys WRT54G v1.0 1.00.9 (Firmware)
